Trip to Egypt continues
A delegation consisting of representatives of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, Imam Maturidi and Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Centers, who are currently in Egypt, visited the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts on March 13 of this year.
The Institute of Arabic Manuscripts was established in 1946 and is one of Egypt’s major scientific institutions specializing in the preservation and research of manuscripts. It should be noted that the Institute stores rare manuscripts of the Muslim world, as well as electronic copies of sources that have only one copy in the world funds.
The Institute carries out tasks such as searching for manuscripts in world funds, obtaining electronic copies of rare manuscripts and delivering them to researchers, displaying catalogs and copies of manuscripts stored in public and private libraries, and conducting important scientific research.
The delegation of Uzbekistan was welcomed by the deputy director of the institute, Dr. Ahmad Abdul Basit, who introduced them closely to the process of preservation, restoration of manuscripts, as well as the creation of their microfilm and electronic copies.
During the visit, it was agreed to bring electronic copies of rare manuscripts stored in the institute, in particular, sources written by scholars of Mawarannahr to Uzbekistan, as well as restoration and research of manuscripts, creation of their modern editions, and mutual personnel exchange.
