The Times considers Uzbekistan one of the best places for tourism

LONDON, January 31. /“Dunyo” IA/. The UK’s The Times has published an article titled “Where is hot in May?”, which lists the best places in the world to travel in the last month of spring, including Uzbekistan, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The author of the article is the well-known journalist of the publication Richard Mellor, who visited Uzbekistan in spring 2019.

As noted in the article, with winter months now a distant memory in the northern hemisphere, more and more southern European destinations become an option for a pre-summer, tan-minded break – namely the likes of Sicily, Greece and Turkey. So too does Tunisia, across the Med and littered with historical remains. If you’re overdue a long-haul break, there are gardens to admire in Japan, leopards to look for in Zambia or Sri Lanka. At the same time, for a long vacation in May, the author also recommends visiting historical cities in Uzbekistan along the route of the legendary Silk Road. The author writes that the average temperature during this time in Uzbekistan is 20C. “Spring produce – green apricots, apples, strawberries – abounds in the Chorsu Bazaar, vying for attention with horse burgers, yelling traders and the scent of saffron or baked bread. Oozing out from its flying saucer-like main building to annexes and adjacent streets, this massive market takes place daily in Tashkent”, he says.

In the article, after visiting Tashkent, the author recommends visiting Samarkand. It is noted that this atmospheric old city contains breathtaking jade-domed mosques and the bejewelled necropolis of Shah-i-Zinda.

The journalist also advises travelers to visit another city on the Silk Road – Bukhara. “…chiefly to wander its beefy Ark of Bukhara citadel. Unlike uncomfortable, 40C summers, warm and dry temperatures render May the savviest time to visit this desert region”, the author concludes.
